About mattkingston.com...

mattkingston.com was launched in February 2005. I didn't have a specific plan at the time - I did, however, have three brass quintet arrangements of old trumpet tunes, and the crazy idea that I might be able to make some money from them. And I was right! By the end of week one, I had sold my first piece of music - on eBay, of all places - for the princely sum of 99 pence.

Encouraged by this success I wrote more, and by early Summer the catalogue had grown to over thirty arrangements. May saw the release of the Brass Player's Wedding Survival Kit, which soon became a best seller. Until this point, I'd been writing exclusively for brass quintet. A wise older brother then pointed out that string quartets also play at weddings, and the String Quartet Wedding Survival Kit was born.

Into 2006: the Trumpet Player's Wedding Survival Kit (with organ and piano accompaniments) is in the pipeline, hopefully followed by more solo arrangements. The Brass Band arrangements series should be arriving in the Spring, and hopefully we'll see the launch of my Book for All Occasions, a collection of 50 well-known tunes for brass, to be published by Wright and Round.
