Dr Greene
had the misfortune to be working in London at the same time
as Handel, as his work has been overshadowed by that of his
illustrious friend and contemporary.
Greene left
behind a substantial number of compositions, most of them
choral (he was organist at St Paul's Cathedral and the Chapel
Royal).
This anthem
features one of his most charming melodies, hear treated as
a graceful trumpet solo.
