The regimental
march of the Grenadier Guards, from Handel's opera Scipione.
This march is frequently used at weddings and ceremonial occasions.
Handel's opera is based upon the life of the Roman General
Scipio Africanus, and his defeat of Hannibal at Carthage.
The simple but beautiful melody is frequently set as an examination
piece (grades 2 or 3) by the Associated Board, and as a result
is familiar to many younger players..
