Russian Fantasy

Brass Quintet £1.95
This
arrangement begins and ends with references to Mussorgsky's
'Pictures at an Exhibition': the ever popular
'Promenade', and the grandiose finale, 'The Great Gate of
Kiev'.
In between are three of the most wonderful bits of Russian
folk music. The first - Polyushka Polye -
is a beautiful lament, which over the course of three verses
gets progressively louder (pp - mf - ff), and more majestic.
Kalinka is next, the melody passing from
trombone to trumpet as the tempo increases. Just as we start
to reach Presto, we segue into 'Katyusha',
a popular Russian wartime song.
Add
