This
famous march was commissioned by the Washington Post newspaper
in 1889, for an awards ceremeony they were holding. It was
an instant hit, and remains one of Sousa's most popular
marches.
The man himself
once said: "a good march should make a man with a wooden
leg want to get up and join the parade."
I had great
fun transcribing this from the original marching band scores,
and hope you will have as much fun playing it! |
